Position Description: |
Position is located in Ithaca, NY, within the ILR School on the campus of Cornell University, or can be based remotely. The School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University has an immediate opening for an Extension Associate – Policy Associate in the K. Lisa Yang and Hock E. Tan Institute on Employment and Disability in the Extension/Outreach Division. This position is responsible for developing and delivering programs and services that are closely aligned with the strategic mission and core values of the ILR School, and for monitoring quality, impact, and outcomes of education, training, technical assistance, consulting and research activities of the program. The Extension Associate will participate with other academic staff in setting YTI and project-specific goals. In addition, the Extension Associate will actively engage and participate in both ILR and YTI general events and activities as available. This position of Extension Associate reports to the Project Director of CAPE-Youth. The position’s primary focus will be as a Policy Associate for the Office of Disability Employment Policy’s Center for Advancing Policy on Employment for Youth (CAPE-Youth). The Center works to improve employment outcomes for youth and young adults with disabilities by helping states build capacity in their youth service delivery and workforce systems. It conducts research, develops partnerships, and shares best practices. In addition, CAPE-Youth helps states identify new opportunities to expand career pathways, work-based learning, strategic partnerships, systems coordination and professional development for practitioners. Extension Associate is a full-time, academic, non-tenure track, term position with an initial appointment through August 31, 2023. The position may be re-appointed based on recommendations by the appropriate YTI Leadership (Principal Investigator), Director (s) and Associate Dean as well as available funding and work. Project-Related Emphasis: This position’s role is to develop policy briefs, tool kits, and materials, train, and provide technical assistance to state and federal policymakers on improving employment outcomes for youth and young adults with disabilities.
