Chapman University's nationally recognized Dodge College of Film and Media Arts seeks applications for a full-time contract faculty position in broadcast journalism beginning August 2019. The broadcast journalism program is part of the B.F.A. in Broadcast Journalism and Documentary, in which students learn the art of reporting and shaping non-fiction stories for broadcast. The successful candidate will have experience as a journalist and television news producer/director.

The successful candidate will have significant experience at the national and local levels, including work on a variety of platforms/channels including network news, local news, and online media. The successful candidate will have directed and/or produced significant work that has achieved national recognition. Ideally, the candidate will also have a solid understanding of the demands of investigative journalism and know the production demands of field reporting as well as live newscast production, as these are key parts of the position's requirements. Previous college teaching and research or professional publication will be considered a bonus. Faculty duties include teaching beginning and advanced courses at the undergraduate level, mentoring students, program development and service to the school and university. The teaching load is six courses per academic year, plus one additional interterm course every other year, in addition to continued professional work and/or research and scholarship. Duties also include networking with local news sources for Chapman News as well as bringing in guest speakers and visiting faculty from the field of broadcast journalism, and helping to promote the program.
