Reporting to the Assistant Director of Access and Collections, the Collections Management and Strategies Librarian facilitates the ongoing organization, updating, and maintenance of both physical and digital collections, compiles and analyzes collection statistics, supports the Access Services unit, and coordinates collection development projects in support of the library’s strategic priorities. This position is expected to be primarily in-person with an option for some remote work.

Responsibilities:

Collections and Digital Initiatives

·         Assists with collection planning, review, and with implementing collection-related projects.

·         Analyzes print resources, evaluating use, condition, and other factors.

·         Monitors and reviews electronic resources for use, accessibility, and other factors.

·         Promotes outreach for both print and digital resources in the collection.

·         Collects and organizes circulation and usage statistics from the related units for collection evaluation and to meet accreditation and other reporting requirements.

·         Provides data and research support for strategic activities relating to the library's collection.

·         Provide support for developing and implementing digital initiatives within the Law Library.

 

Access Services

·         Assists with assigned Access Services tasks.

·         Seasonal staffing of circulation desk, as needed.

 

Additional Duties and Opportunities

·         Committee participation within the Law Library, Law School, and main campus library.

·         Opportunity for student/intern supervision.

·         Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications & Experience:

M.L.I.S. or equivalent graduate degree from an ALA-accredited program by start date. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required, as well as a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collegial environment. Excellent problem solving, analytical, organizational and project management skills. Strong service orientation, commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.

 

Preferred:

·         Experience working in an academic library.

·         Demonstrated experience coordinating and managing projects.

·         Certification or familiarity with programs such as integrated library systems (Aleph or FOLIO), ILLiad, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.

·         Demonstrated proficiency with data analytics and/or visualization applications through coursework or projects. 

 

Salary and Benefits:

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Duke University offers a competitive benefits package. Employer may assist with relocation costs.
