Brown Theoretical Physics Center Postdoctoral Fellowships

The Brown Theoretical Physics Center (BTPC) is inviting applications for several inaugural postdoctoral fellowships beginning September 1, 2019 at Brown University. The Center was authorized in 2018 and aims to stimulate collaborative research across the boundaries between astrophysics-cosmology, condensed matter and high energy theoretical physics. As well it will support interdisciplinary cross-departmental research with other STEM disciplines. The BTPC faculty are engaged in research in strongly correlated matter; interdisciplinary studies of cosmology, astrophysics and condensed matter; quantum information science; climate and environmental physics; theoretical particle physics, quantum field theory, and mathematical foundations and symmetries. A competitive annual stipend will be offered along with a research and travel fund. The initial offer will be for a two year position with the possibility of an extension.

Application materials including a CV, statement of research plans (with emphasis on collaborative research across disciplines), and three letters of reference should be submitted electronically to https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo. Please specify your primary research area(s) by entering one or more of ACT (astro-cosmology theory), CMT (condensed matter theory), and/or HET (high energy theory) in the Research Interest field of your application.

Inquiries about this position should be directed to BTPC-search@brown.edu or to Prof. Jim Gates, Center Director, Department of Physics, Box 1843, Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island 02912. Applications received by December 1, 2018 will receive full consideration. Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply. Brown University is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic global community; as an EEO/AA employer.
