We invite applications for a three-year PhD studentship to begin between October and December of 2022 in the domains of scattering amplitudes and gravitational waves. The studentship will be funded by the European Research Council Advanced Grant, ``Ampl2Einstein'' (ERC--2019--ADG~885414).
The studentship will be held at the Institut de Physique Theorique (IPhT) at Saclay in the Paris suburbs, and may include extended research visits to the partner institution, CERN, in Geneva. Accepted applicants will pursue a PhD degree to be awarded by Universite Paris--Saclay in the subject of theoretical predictions for gravitational waves using techniques from quantum scattering amplitudes. The monthly stipend of the studentship will typically be around 1580 euros/month (after deduction of social charges).
At the time of appointment, applicants may not already have been awarded a doctoral degree; and must be in the first four years of their research careers. Applicants must be currently enrolled in or have completed a master's degree program in theoretical high-energy physics, and must have already completed at least one course in quantum field theory. Award of the studentship will be contingent on successful completion of the master's degree. In addition, applicants must be fluent (reading, writing, and speaking) in English.
Applications should include a CV, a transcript of bachelor's and master's courses with grades, and names of two referees who may be contacted. If the master's program includes a thesis or internship, the supervisor's name should also be supplied.
