Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position within the recently formed Emmy Noether Junior Research Group of Dr. Julia Harz at the Physics Department of the Technical University of Munich (TUM).

The appointment is initially for two years starting in the fall of 2019 (the starting date is subject to some flexibility if needed), with the possibility of a one year extension. The pay scale will be according to the usual E13 TvL level and comes with a generous travel fund. The appointment will be in the area of theoretical particle and astroparticle physics, with emphasis on baryogenesis/leptogenesis, dark matter and/or neutrino physics.

Preferably, applicants should have previous experience in the aforementioned topics at an international level. Applications from candidates with a strong interest in one or more of the following aspects are particularly welcome: testing baryogenesis models, CP violation and its implications for baryogenesis models, new ideas to connect the baryon asymmetry with dark matter, sterile neutrinos, Sommerfeld enhancement and boundstate formation and their implications for dark matter, precision of dark matter observables, phenomenology of freeze-in dark matter, new ideas to probe dark sectors, and the interplay between the high energy and intensity frontiers in the search for new physics.

The Emmy Noether Junior Research Group of Dr. Julia Harz is part of the Theoretical High-Energy Particle Physics Group at TUM that currently consists of Prof. Beneke, Prof. Buras, Dr. van Dyk, Prof. Garbrecht, Dr. Garny, Dr. Harz, Prof. Ibarra, and Prof. Weiler, and a significant number of postdoctoral fellows, PhD and master students. The interests of the TUM HEP group include a wide range of topics in particle physics phenomenology and field theory (LHC phenomenology, flavour and top quark physics, CP violation, strong interactions, extensions of the standard model, neutrinos), and in physics of the early universe and cosmology (dark matter, baryo- and leptogenesis, inflation, CMB and cosmic perturbations). The vicinity of the TUM Institute for Advanced Study, the Max-Planck Institutes for Physics and for Astrophysics, and in particular of the cluster of excellence "ORIGINS" and the Munich Institute for Astro- and Particle Physics (MIAPP), provides a stimulating environment for research.

Applicants should provide a cover letter, curriculum vitae, list of publications and a research statement, as well as arrange for at least three letters of recommendation to be uploaded before December 5, 2018. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

Questions regarding the position should be directly addressed to Dr. Julia Harz (
