The Institute of Modern Physics(IMP), Lanzhou, China, invites application for a postdoctoral position in theoretical nuclear physics to begin fall 2019 (dates are flexible). 

The successful candidate will work collaboratively and independently on QCD related research, with an emphasis on "charting" the QCD phase structure in extreme conditions and "imaging" the 3D quark-gluon dynamics inside the hadron. In addition, the candidate is encouraged to interact strongly with our experimental colleagues, including Drs. Hao Qiu and Nu Xu who are members of STAR collaboration at RHIC and CBM experiment at FAIR or Dr. Xurong Chen who is working on the future Electron-ion Collider in China (EicC). 

The appointment is initially for two years. The expected applicants should have Ph.D degree, within the past five years, in theoretical particle physics and/or nuclear physics. Applicants will be required to submit a CV, list of publications, statement of research interests through AJO.

IMP is the largest nuclear physics research institute, under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), in China. Its research portfolio covers from Nuclear structure, super heavy element, new isotopes, to quark matter phase structure, to materials research. IMP is constructing High Intensity heavy ion Accelerator Facility (HIAF) which is anticipated in operation in 2024. The machine will provide HI beams up to 4 GeV, allowing study the QCD phase structure at high baryon density region. In the not too far future, it will also construct the first EIC in China, EicC, in 2030.
