Pitzer College, a member of the Claremont Colleges in California, seeks a Visiting Scholar for a two-year appointment in Organizational Studies. A candidate’s degree program should connect to the field of Organizational Studies, and while the Ph. D. is required for appointment to the Advanced Scholar position, candidates near completion of their graduate degree will be considered for the Junior Scholar position. The successful candidate would teach courses in their specialty, and, if possible, offer one or more of the core courses in the Organizational Studies major (i.e., Organizational Behavior, Organizational Theory, Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods in Organizational Analysis).

The Pitzer College Organizational Studies program is an interdisciplinary major that draws students from across the Claremont Colleges (Pomona, Harvey Mudd, Scripps, Claremont McKenna, and Pitzer). The successful candidate could also contribute to one of the core related field groups that historically have contributed to Organizational Studies (Economics, Psychology, Political Studies, and Sociology), and could also participate in the intercollegiate program in Science, Technology, and Society at the Claremont Colleges.

Pitzer College has a strong institutional commitment to diversity in all areas and strongly encourages candidates from underrepresented groups. We favor candidates who can contribute to the College’s distinctive educational objectives, which promote interdisciplinary perspectives, intercultural understanding, and concern with social responsibility and the ethical implications of knowledge and action. Pitzer College is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer. For the successful applicant with the relevant interests, affiliations are possible with the intercollegiate departments of Africana Studies, Asian American Studies, Chicanx/Latinx Studies, and/or the Intercollegiate Feminist Center for Teaching, Research, and Engagement.

To apply submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, selected evidence of excellence in teaching and research, statement of teaching philosophy, description of research, and a list of three persons the candidate will ask to provide letters of recommendation to Pitzer by the deadline. Additionally, candidates should include a separate statement that addresses how their cultural, experiential, and/or academic background contributes to the understanding of diversity at the College. The deadline for applying is June 2 or until the position is filled. Due to the high volume of applications, we cannot respond to inquiries regarding the status of submitted applications. Pitzer College — a private, undergraduate, coeducational college of the liberal arts and sciences — is consistently ranked among the best such colleges in the country. Located in Claremont, California, a city about 35 miles east of Los Angeles, Pitzer is a member of The Claremont Colleges consortium and benefits from the shared resources of seven institutions.
