Candidates will have expertise in one or more of the following areas:  arts management and administration, cultural entrepreneurship, creative industries, cultural economy in the West and Asia, arts law and business, cultural and media studies in Asia, digital cultural policy.   

Candidates will have demonstrated research expertise, and industry experience and knowledge, of current and emerging trends in arts and cultural entrepreneurship, and the changing conditions of global creative cultural industries. The incumbent is expected to teach in the new Master of Arts in Arts and Cultural Entrepreneurship programme and contribute to undergraduate teaching in the cultural studies, communications and new media programmes.  Senior candidates are expected to demonstrate an established and distinguished international research track record of excellence and engaged practice in related fields. Senior candidates are expected to coordinate the new programme.

Qualifications: PhD in Arts and Cultural Management, Cultural Studies, Creative Media and Industries, Communications Studies, or closely related discipline by date of appointment; evidence of successful teaching. Consideration may also be given to candidates with practice-based and professional industry experience in related sectors.

Professional Development: Successful talented early career candidates with excellent research track records will be considered for the National University of Singapore Presidential Young Professorship (NUS PYP) scheme which includes a start-up research grant up to SGD 750,000 including scholarships to hire PhD students, and an award of SGD 250,000 for discretionary spending.

Responsibilities: Successful candidates are expected to teach 3-4 modules per academic year. Other duties include supervision of honours students and graduate students, and administrative service. The anticipated start date is 1 July prior to the beginning of the semester in August 2022.

1. A statement (max. of 3 pages) of teaching philosophy and methodology. Where available, evidence of teaching ability such as student feedback or peer review reports should be provided. Evidence of other contributions to education, e.g. curriculum development, pedagogical innovation, production of teaching material, should be provided were available.
2. A preface (maximum 300 words) that makes the case for your appointment. This should be highly distilled summary of your key contributions to student learning and educational leadership, guided by your teaching philosophy.
3. A Teaching Statement that focuses on evidence of student learning and educational leadership (if applicable). Note that the Teaching Statement, together with documents on research (where applicable) and service contributions should be no more than a maximum of 3,000 words. Examples of consideration that can guide the candidate in making a case for teaching impact and leadership, with a focus on self, students, others, scholarship, future plans.
4. Teaching evaluations and peer review reports, if available. Other evidence of teaching excellence and/or other contributions to education e.g. curriculum development, pedagogical innovation, etc. should be provided.
6. Proposed 13-week syllabus for the flagship module, Arts and Cultural Entrepreneurship.
7. A Research Statement of major accomplishments in research, citing up to five significant publications, creative work or other scholarly contribution, and explaining their significance. Sample copies of these contributions should be provided (in the case of books, reviews should be provided).
1. A research plan (3-page) with a proposed start-up research budget and utilisation plan.
2. A complete list of publications, grouped according to papers, books, and reviews, including page numbers, in bibliographic form.
3. Citation (excluding self-citations and in the case of co-authored work, cross-citations) and impact analysis of research output, highlighting papers with the highest citation counts, and creative works with high impact.

11. Assistant Professor Applicants: A list of THREE External References (including one from the applicant’s PhD or post-doctoral advisor/supervisor). Shortlisted candidates will be notified to submit for the letters of references separately prior to the campus visit.
12. Associate Professor / Full Professor Applicants: A list of SIX external reviewers recommended (names, contact details, applicant's relationship to them). These external reviewers should preferably not be close collaborators or the applicant's PhD/post-doc supervisor.
