Position Description: |
The
Department of Southeast Asian Studies at the National University of Singapore
seeks to fill an Educator Track position.
The appointment will commence in August
2022. We are particularly interested in candidates who
bridge the fields of environmental anthropology, political ecology, and
conservation science with reference to the Southeast Asian region. Demonstrated experience with community
empowerment will be considered an added bonus.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and
graduate courses in these fields. In addition to teaching, the successful
candidate will be expected to supervise undergraduate and graduate students.
Depending on qualifications, the candidate may be hired at the rank of lecturer
or senior lecturer. Successful candidates must have: ·
A Ph.D. in a relevant field at the time of
appointment. ·
Excellent communication and pedagogical skills,
and dedication to academic teaching excellence and collegiality. ·
To be considered for a senior position, a
candidate must also demonstrate the potential to be research active. Applicants should

employment history, past experience of teaching and supervision, research
activities (including publications) and achievements, honours and awards, and
service accomplishments, details of 3 external referees (names, contact details, applicant's
relationship to them) and the candidate’s main PhD supervisor ·
Letter of interest ·
Teaching statement (maximum 3 pages) ·
Research statement (maximum 3 pages) ·
Evidence of teaching ability such as student feedback
or peer review reports, and/or evidence of other contributions to education, if
available. ·
Three reference
letters (excluding the applicant’s PhD supervisor) sent directly to the Chair
