Director of Psychology, Adolescent Continuing Care Units at the Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH)

The University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School (UMass Chan) seeks an experienced licensed clinical Child and Adolescent Psychologist to serve as the Director of Psychology for our Adolescent Continuing Care Units (ACCUs) at the Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH). This is a full-time faculty clinical position.

The Director of Psychology for the ACCUs is responsible for providing clinical care, leadership, and supervision to psychologists and psychology trainees at DMH’s only behavioral health/mental health continuing care inpatient service for youth in the Commonwealth. The Director Psychology oversees psychological interventions for the ACCUs therapeutic programming which are designed to serve adolescents and their families whose clinical condition requires inpatient level of psychiatric intervention, medical/medication evaluation and monitoring, and active continuing care treatment. The Director of Psychology will oversee psychological programming and will ensure ongoing excellence in therapeutic and trauma informed/trauma-responsive care.

As a clinical leader serving on behalf of the state’s mental health authority, we are looking for a Child and Adolescent Psychologist who is familiar with state agencies, has expertise in adolescent residential and inpatient settings, and is skilled in clinical collaboration and teaching. A UMass Chan academic faculty appointment will be based on prior experience. There are opportunities for research, including protected time depending on experience and goals.

Successful candidates will have a PhD/PsyD, and specialized training/experience in Child and Adolescent Psychology. Experience in risk assessment is required. Preferred qualifications include training and experience in evidence-based psychotherapy models for trauma, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), and/or evidence-based psychosocial treatment for eating disorders. Facility in teaching professionals, lay public, consumers, as well as trainees such as psychology and social work interns is desirable.
