Area Medical Director: Department of Mental Health Southeast Area 


 The University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School (UMass Chan) seeks a board-certified psychiatrist licensed in Massachusetts to serve as the Area Medical Director for the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH) Southeast Area. The Area Medical Director’s primary responsibility is to support the delivery of clinically effective and high quality behavioral healthcare to the diverse persons served by DMH. The Area Medical Director provides clinical leadership, in partnership with DMH Southeast Area leadership and statewide Clinical and Professional Services staff, to the DMH operated and contracted continuum of care. Specifically, the Area Medical Director is responsible for conducting behavioral health evaluations and clinical reviews to determine level of care and treatment for persons served by DMH, participating in clinical case consultations, as well as eligibility and risk reviews, and in program development and quality improvement activities. The successful candidate is an inspirational leader in the recovery model of care and embraces DMH’s goals of providing access to services and supports to meet the mental health needs of individuals of all ages; enabling them to live, work, and participate in their communities.
