The Department of Bioengineering at Rice University, located in Houston, TX, seeks applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of computational/theoretical bioengineering with a start date of July 2020. The department invites Assistant Professor candidates with expertise in computational modeling and/or theoretical modelling of biological systems. Particular areas of interest are biomolecular/protein engineering, cellular engineering, biomechanics, systems biology, neural engineering, and computational medicine. Candidates seeking to combine computational and experimental approaches are also encouraged to apply. Outstanding candidates at higher rank will be considered.

Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds. Candidates will be expected to establish a strong research program supported by extramural funding.

We seek greater representation of women, minorities, people with disabilities, and veterans in disciplines in which they have historically been underrepresented; to attract international students from a wider range of countries and backgrounds; to accelerate progress in building a faculty and staff who are diverse in background and thought; and we support an inclusive environment that fosters interaction and understanding within our diverse community.

Rice offers an outstanding environment for research at the interface of bioengineering, medicine, and biology with strong collaborations with the adjacent Texas Medical Center. We particularly encourage applications from women and members of historically underrepresented groups who bring diverse cultural experiences and who are especially qualified to mentor members of our diverse student population.

Candidates in the area of theoretical biological physics are also invited to apply for interdepartmental physical biology search: https://jobs.rice.edu/postings/21134.

Requirements All candidates must have a PhD degree in bioengineering or a related field, conferred by July 1, 2020.
