The Program in Engineering Communication at Rice University invites applicants for a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure track lecturer position in Professional Communication. This position primarily involves teaching multiple sections of a course that prepares graduate students in engineering professional master’s programs to communicate effectively in the workplace. Classes are anticipated to be held on campus. This nine-month appointment begins July 1, 2021 and ends June 30, 2022. The position may be eligible for summer salary depending on the program's needs. The initial appointment may be followed by renewable one to three-year contracts.

Qualifications
A Masters degree in [Scientific and] Technical Communication, Applied Linguistics, TESOL, Rhetoric & Composition is required.
A Ph.D. in Scientific and Technical Communication, Applied Linguistics, Rhetorical Composition or another closely related field is preferred.
Other requirements include:
A minimum of two years experience teaching advanced writing to multilingual students
Demonstrated excellence in teaching
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to collaborate with faculty from different engineering disciplines
Competitive applicants will also have:
TESL certification
Experience teaching Scientific and Technical Communication, Business Communication or English
for Specific Purposes
