Rice University seeks a faculty member in the BioSciences department at the assistant professor level, starting as early as July 1, 2022, in the area of synthetic biology. Successful candidates will lead a dynamic, innovative, and independent research program supported by external funding, and they will excel in teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, while embracing and contributing to Rice’s culture of diversity and inclusive excellence.

This search will consider applicants from all engineering and science disciplines. Ideal candidates will pursue research using experimental and/or theoretical approaches that are interdisciplinary. Rice is committing significant resources to growth in synthetic biology, building upon our existing nucleus of researchers, who are connected through the Systems, Synthetic, and Physical Biology graduate program.

Candidates whose research program synergizes with and extends current synthetic biology research at Rice are of particular interest.
