The Institute for Quantum Studies at Chapman University invites applications for experimental postdoctoral researchers in quantum optics and/or optics. Successful applicants must show a strong publication record and expertise in experimental optics, quantum optics or atomic physics. The applicant will be expected to work independently, write grants and reports, and develop new research topics.

The appointments will begin in 2023 for one year with up to two years of extension contingent on performance. Fellows joining our community are offered a competitive annual salary of $65,000 plus benefits.

Qualifications

Postdoctoral Fellows must hold a Ph.D. or an equivalent of a doctoral degree by the beginning of employment at Chapman University. The doctorate or equivalent must have been awarded within the last five years and candidate must not have exceeded five years of prior postdoctoral experience.

Responsibilities

It is expected that the research fellow will help design, build and test experimental systems, write grants and reports, integrate software and hardware for measurement and data analysis, run the laboratory when the PI is gone, and train PhD and undergraduate research students.  The fellow is expected to have a strong background in quantum theory and experimental optics.  The fellow must be fluent and proficient in both verbal and written English.
