The Cosmology and Astroparticle physics group at the University of Geneva invites applications for a PhD position starting in Fall 2020 or earlier for a duration of 4 years.

The successful candidate will primarily work with Dr. Julien Carron, who will join the institute in 2020. Goal of the project is to tackle challenges relevant to Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) lensing data analysis for current and upcoming experiments, and contains both theoretical and numerical parts. Candidates should have obtained a Master in Physics (or judged equivalent) by the starting date. Prior knowledge in theoretical physics, interest in numerical methods and good programming skills are a plus. The gross salary amounts to approx. 50000 CHF/year, from a Swiss National Science Foundation grant associated to Dr Julien Carron. Beside CMB research, the Cosmology and Astroparticle physics group is also strongly involved in galaxy clustering, weak gravitational lensing, gravitational waves, dark energy, and modified gravity (see

The interested candidate should apply through Academic Jobs Online (AJO); a short cover letter specifying the candidate’s interests should be included in the application, as well as a full CV, a list of the courses taken by the candidate during their master/postgraduate studies (including marks) and any other documents that the candidate considers relevant for the application. Candidates should also arrange for at least two confidential letters of reference to be uploaded to AJO prior to the deadline, and indicate the names and contact details of their referees in their application (CV).
