The experimental high-energy physics group at Duke University invites applications for a postdoctoral research position focused on the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. The Duke HEP group includes faculty that are highly active on ATLAS, mu2e, various neutrino experiments, and LSST. Within ATLAS, the HEP group has particular interest in signature-based searches for new physics with heavy vector bosons and top quarks, and a history of leadership in precision electroweak measurements, Higgs physics, and jet substructure reconstruction and tagging techniques. ATLAS tracking detector operations and the development of module test infrastructure for the new ITk strip detector upgrade are among the primary institutional activities at Duke. Our students also have strong interests and expertise in electron and photon reconstruction, tracking software, simulation, and calorimeter calibration.

The successful candidate(s) will be expected to complement and expand our existing program of measurements and new physics searches, to help lead our ITk development activity, and to collaborate on mentoring and other efforts to broaden opportunities for participation in high-energy physics. The position(s) are expected to be based at Duke, with extended periods at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) and/or CERN.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Physics and research experience in experimental elementary particle physics. Questions regarding this search can be directed to Prof. Ayana Arce, Prof. Al Goshaw, Prof. Ashutosh Kotwal, or Prof. Mark Kruse {atarce,goshaw,kotwal,mkruse}@phy.duke.edu. Applications received by April 15th will receive full consideration.
