Research Associate

 Occupational Summary

Conducts research on character, virtue, vocation, and ethics, to support the mission of the Kenan Institute for Ethics. Provides scholarly direction for the development, coordination, administration of faculty led research efforts programs, with an emphasis on programs for graduate and professional students. Does translational writing in support of Institute research and works with faculty to develop grant proposals. Will be called upon to lead co-curricular seminars with faculty and students and do occasional teaching in support of Institute programs.  

Work Performed

  • Conduct research on matters of character, virtue, vocation, and ethics.
  • Coordinate, plan, develop, and implement curricular and co-curricular programs in collaboration with Kenan Institute faculty with special focus on graduate and professional students.
  • Lead collaborative development of inter-disciplinary funding proposals.
  • Lead the development of a range of translational materials to disseminate research findings to stakeholders and communities.
  • Lead the development of innovative and equitable means of disseminating research findings to participant communities.
  • Prepare operational reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations or conclusions for faculty led research projects.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of designated students and fellow employees working on the project.
  • Maintain liaison with internal and external educational and professional organizations to explore new program opportunities, to develop and improve current programs and practices, and to represent the interests and capabilities of The Kenan Institute for Ethics.
  • Represent The Kenan Institute for Ethics in meetings, conferences, and other affairs.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

 Required Qualifications

Education/Training

Work requires research, communications, analytical, and organization skills generally acquired through completion of a Ph.D. 

 Experience

A minimum of 3 years of experience in a related area or field. Management of multiple projects. Experience teaching and developing and implementing curricular and co-curricular programs.
