The Condensed Matter Theory group at the California Institute of Technology invites applications for the Moore Postdoctoral Fellowship in Quantum Materials Theory, beginning in Fall 2021. This postdoctoral program is part of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation’s Emergent Phenomena in Quantum Systems initiative (EPiQS).

The Moore Postdoctoral Fellowship has a three-year duration, conditional upon reasonable performance, offers freedom in choosing research direction, independence, and possibility to work with multiple faculty members.

The selected candidate should have completed their Ph.D. degree by the time they start their assignment, should show outstanding research in theoretical condensed matter physics commensurate with the level of the position, and an ability to identify and pursue research problems independently while working well in an interactive and dynamic setting.

All candidates should apply online at https://applications.caltech.edu/jobs/moorepd Deadline is November 15, 2020. Postdoctoral applicants must submit curriculum vitae (with email address and citizenship), a statement of research interests, and a list of publications (refereed papers on top), and ensure that at least 3 letters of reference are submitted on their behalf. If you have any questions during the application process, please contact moorepd-search@caltech.edu. We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. Caltech is a VEVRAA Federal Contractor. To read more about Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) go to eeoc_self_print_poster.pdf.

About the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and EPiQS Initiative The Moore Foundation believes in bold ideas that create enduring impact in the areas of science, environmental conservation and patient care. Visit Moore.org or follow @MooreFound. The foundation’s $185-million EPiQS initiative promotes discovery-driven research in the field of quantum materials (http://www.moore.org/programs/science/emergent-phenomena-in-quantum-systems). Through a variety of funding approaches, EPiQS aims to enable a community of leading experimentalists, materials synthesis experts and theorists to maximize their potential to explore, discover and understand emergent behavior of complex quantum matter. The Moore Postdoctoral Scholars in Theory of Quantum Materials program is an integral part of EPiQS and supports theoretical physicists of outstanding promise at an early stage of their careers. The Moore Postdoctoral Scholars are provided with a significant independence in selection of their research directions within their departments and can acquire a breadth of expertise by working with multiple faculty members. The Moore Foundation values diversity and encourages applications from individuals regardless of their age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, national origin, religion or disability.
