The MIT Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research (MKI) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate to work in the group of Prof. Sarah Millholland and conduct research on exoplanet dynamics, formation, and evolution. The appointment is for two years, with the possibility of extension to a third. The start date is flexible within Summer/Fall 2023.

Depending upon the applicant’s research interests and qualifications, research topics may include, but are not limited to: (1) the study of planetary orbital dynamics using semi-analytic secular models and numerical simulations, (2) the study of exoplanet architectures and demographics using statistical methods, (3) the study of planetary interiors/atmospheres using structural models, and (4) the study of novel methodology for performing orbital inference on observational data.

Applicants must have a PhD in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics, Planetary Science or a closely related field by the start of the position. Experience with theoretical or observational exoplanet research is preferred but not required. The successful applicant must have the ability to carry out an independent research program and also work collaboratively with students and other members of the MKI community.

Applicants are asked to submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and brief statement (maximum 3 pages) of research interests and experience via both the MIT website (in a single PDF) and directly to Prof. Sarah Millholland at sarah.millholland@mit.edu. Please also arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to sarah.millholland@mit.edu.

All materials should be received by January 12, 2023 for full consideration.
