We invite applications for a post-doctoral position in the starting group of Prof. Lee McCuller in the Department of Physics, Math, and Astronomy at Caltech. The appointment requires completion of a PhD and is expected to start as early as September 2022, with some flexibility. The initial appointment is for one year with expected renewal for two subsequent years.

Research in this group will include squeezed light and its application in gravitational wave interferometers such as LIGO, expanding the repertoire of quantum resources/techniques/readouts outside of those typically used in optomechanics, and developing interferometer experiments for broad physics research.

We seek candidates with a range of laboratory skills. Expertise related to experimental laser and quantum optics, modeling and design, data analysis, electronics, and vibration isolation and control systems is desirable. Most importantly, candidates should be broadly trained scientists, willing to learn new experimental techniques, and excited about searching for new aspects of nature.

Applications should include a cover letter, CV, publication list, a 2 page statement of research. They should also arrange to have three letters of reference uploaded. Science questions about the position can be addressed to Lee McCuller <mcculler@caltech.edu>
