Postdoctoral Research Associateship at King’s College London, Physics Department

We invite expressions of interest in a 3-year Postdoctoral Research Associate position that we expect to be able to offer in the Theoretical Particle Physics and Cosmology (TPPC) Group of the Department of Physics at King's College London as part of an EPSRC project on “PT (Parity-Time-reversal) Field Theory”. The Research Associate will undertake research in quantum field theory with particular focus on theories with PT symmetry.

The position should start on 1 October 2021, and the Research Associate will be expected to carry out theoretical research that has significant levels of originality, innovation and depth. They will also be expected to participate in the activities of the TPPC Group, working under the general direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) of the EPSRC grant.

TPPC group is internationally leading in research on quantum field theory, particle physics beyond the Standard Model, particle astrophysics, gravitational physics and applications of theoretical physics to interdisciplinary topics of relevance to condensed matter physics. The Research Associate will work with the investigators of the EPSRC grant: Sarben Sarkar (PI), Jean Alexandre, John Ellis and Nick Mavromatos, who are the members of the TPPC group working on PT-symmetric field theory, and Carl Bender, who is a named Visiting Researcher in the grant. The Research Associate will also benefit from  interactions with the other members of the TPPC group, including Bobby Acharya, Diego Blas, Malcolm Fairbairn, Eugene Lim, David Marsh, Chris McCabe and Mairi Sakellariadou, who have diverse interests in theoretical physics.

Essential criteria:

The applicant should

Have a PhD degree in Theoretical Physics

Have a track record of high-quality research in Theoretical Physics that demonstrates significant levels of originality, innovation and depth

Have significant expertise in Quantum Field Theory

•  Show a strong interest in conducting research on theories with PT symmetry

•  Show willingness to contribute in Theoretical Physics seminars and other related activities

•  Have good interpersonal and team working skills
