Georgetown University's Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS) and the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) invite applications for a non-tenure line faculty position to help to support teaching in an exciting new graduate program, The Master of Science in Environment and International Affairs (MS-EIA), jointly administered by Georgetown University's Earth Commons Institute and the School of Foreign Service. The faculty member will be jointly based (50-50) in the Science, Technology and International Affairs Program (STIA) at the School of Foreign Service and the Earth Commons Institute in the Graduate School for Arts and Sciences (GSAS). This new hire is part of a broader cluster of faculty recruitments complementing existing expertise in the areas of environment and sustainability at Georgetown University.

We are looking for a teaching professor (open rank, non tenure line) with training and teaching experience in the field of environmental science, with a focus on transboundary and/or global environmental science; areas of expertise could include, for example, climate change, ozone depletion, natural resource management, ocean science and fisheries, biodiversity and conservation, or arctic/polar science. The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic scientist who is able to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly to students with different levels of science background. Teaching responsibilities will include a 2-semester, 8 credit course on global environmental science (2 sections). Each semester of this course includes a 3 credit lecture and 1-credit experiential environmental science lab. Additional teaching would include one 1.5-credit skills course to be taught once per year. This course can be based on the instructor's expertise and might include GIS, remote sensing, research methods, etc. This position is a 10 month contract.
