Position Description

Walter Sinnott-Armstrong is seeking to fill a full-time, biweekly Associate in Research position for the Moral Attitudes and Decisions lab at Duke University (MAD Lab; PI). A six-month commitment is expected January 1-June 30, 2024, with possibility for renewal. Salary commensurate with experience. No benefits included. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis with an anticipated start date in January, 2024.

MAD Lab manager duties include, among others: • Organizing the lab meeting schedule • Managing lab-wide communications • Updating lab websites and email lists • Overseeing and maintaining IRB protocols • Assisting lab members with writing new IRB protocols • Assisting lab members with data collection • Submitting grant progress reports. Research assistant duties include, among others: • Designing studies • Constructing materials and setting up websites for research projects • Gathering and analyzing data for research projects • Writing and publishing papers. The ideal candidate: • Has a B.A./B.S. in psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science, philosophy, or a related field • Has experience collecting human subject data • Has research and writing experience in moral psychology • Has experience as a lab manager • Has very strong organizational skills • Has some knowledge of common statistical practices in psychology and neuroscience research • Has some experience programming • Has good interpersonal and communication skills.
