A junior faculty, Instructor, position is open at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in the laboratory of Hardy Kornfeld to study the role the impact of diabetes and related metabolic disorders on host defense against infectious diseases with a focus on tuberculosis.

The Instructor will work closely with Dr. Kornfeld on defining new directions for the Kornfeld lab and advise research fellows and students on experimental design and data analysis. The instructor will work closely with the PI on research laboratory management and regulatory compliance.  The optimal candidate will have experience in innate immunity and/or immunology and cell biology and molecular techniques and experience with animal models. Experience working with virulent Mycobacterium tuberculosis in vitro and in vivo (with mice) with BSL-3/ABSL-3 containment and practices is a requirement for this position. Applicants should have PhD and/or MD degree and at least 3 years of relevant postdoctoral experience.
