Cornell University Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer - Race and Public Policy

The Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy is seeking candidates with expertise in race and public policy whose record in teaching, engagement, and/or research has prepared them to contribute to Cornell's broad institutional commitment to diversity and to the Brooks School of Public Policy's specific commitment to educating students on the history of racism, the relationships between public policy and structural racism, and the role of public policy in addressing racial inequality. This position is open to scholars and practitioners alike.  While this position is open to individuals whose work focuses on race and public policy in the United States or abroad (or both), candidates must, at a minimum, be able and willing to teach about race and public policy in the United States.

We will begin reviewing applications on December 15th and applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Applications must include: (a) Cover letter describing professional background and qualifications for the position; (b) Curriculum vitae; (c) Teaching statement; (d) up to three examples of written work(s); (e) Statement of contribution to diversity; and (f) Names of three references (final candidates will be asked to submit letters later). The Cornell Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy is tackling complex U.S. and global societal challenges. We develop practical solutions that policymakers and other decisionmakers can use to improve the health and prosperity of our population. We are doing this in ways that resonate with Cornell’s unique strengths as an institution to quickly position the Brooks School as a leading school of public policy in the U.S. In service to these goals, we seek to hire several world-class public policy research scholars and/or practitioners oriented toward policy engagement and impact across a variety of disciplines.

Cornell University embraces diversity and seeks candidates who will contribute to a climate that supports students, faculty, and staff of all identities and backgrounds. We strongly encourage individuals from underrepresented and/or marginalized identities to apply. We are a recognized employer and educator valuing AA/EEO, Protected Veterans and Individuals with Disabilities. We also recognize a lawful preference in employment practices for Native Americans living on or near Indian reservations.

As part of the university's comprehensive vaccination program, all Cornell employees are required to have and provide proof of an FDA-or WHO-authorized or approved COVID-19 vaccine and booster or have obtained a university-approved disability/medical or religious exemption, regardless of their role and work location.

New hires are required to provide documentation showing full vaccination status (that is, completion of two shots of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine or one shot of the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson) before their first day of work. If a new hire's vaccination is not complete or information is not received by their start date, the first day of work will be delayed. It is possible in some cases that an offer of employment may be withdrawn. New hires are also required to have and provide proof of their vaccine booster within 30 days of the start of their employment or within 30 days of eligibility for the vaccine booster.

Diversity and Inclusion are a part of Cornell University’s heritage. We are a recognized employer and educator valuing AA/EEO, Protected Veterans and Individuals with Disabilities.
