Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, at Chapman University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Asian American Studies, beginning August 2023.

Wilkinson College seeks candidates who can offer courses in, and direct, the new undergraduate interdisciplinary minor in Asian American Studies. Desirable secondary area emphases include any of the following: Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Studies, LGBTQ, Disability Studies or Health Humanities.

Qualifications Wilkinson College seeks a tenure track Assistant Professor in Asian American Studies, who will also serve as the director of the new interdisciplinary minor in Asian American Studies. The college is interested in a dynamic scholar and instructor to help build this nascent minor.

Requirements include a Ph.D. in Asian American Studies or related field at an accredited University at the time of hire, evidence of promising scholarly work in the field of Asian American, effective and innovative teaching, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Responsibilities The successful candidate will develop and direct the Asian American minor and teach foundational and elective courses in the minor. Tenure-track faculty members are expected to develop and maintain an active research agenda and are evaluated on their research/scholarly/creative activity, teaching, and service. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience ($82,000-$90,000). Chapman University offers a relocation expense reimbursement package as well as a first-time Orange County homebuyer assistance program.
