Cornell University's School of Operations Research and Information Engineering (ORIE) seeks to fill multiple tenure-track faculty positions for its Ithaca campus. (A separate search is being conducted for a tenure-track faculty position in ORIE at Cornell Tech in New York city.) Although priority will be given to junior candidates, candidates at all levels will be considered. We welcome strong applicants in all areas of operations research, both methodological and application-driven, especially in those areas that interface with data-driven decision-making and machine learning.

Requisite is a strong interest in the broad mission of the School, exceptional potential for leadership in research and education, an ability and willingness to teach at all levels of the program, and a PhD in operations research, mathematics, statistics, or a related field by the start of the appointment. Salary will be appropriate to qualifications and engineering school norms.

Cornell ORIE is a diverse group of high-quality researchers and educators interested in probability, optimization, statistics, machine learning, simulation, game theory, and a wide array of applications such as health care, e-commerce, supply chains, scheduling, manufacturing, transportation systems, financial engineering, service systems and network science. We value mathematical and technical depth and innovation, and experience with applications and practice. Ideal candidates will have correspondingly broad training and interests.

A complete application should include a cover letter, CV, statements of teaching and research interests, statement of diversity, equity, and inclusion (see https://facultydevelopment.cornell.edu/department-resources/recruitment/contribution-to-diversity/), sample publications, at least three reference letters, and, for junior applicants, a doctoral transcript.  Applications for the position should be submitted at https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/22164. Applications completed by November 1st, 2022 will receive full consideration, though we encourage early application.  Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.

ORIE and the College of Engineering at Cornell embrace diversity and seek candidates who can contribute to a welcoming climate for students of all races and genders. Cornell University seeks to meet the needs of dual career couples, has a Dual Career program, and is a member of the Upstate New York Higher Education Recruitment Consortium to assist with dual career searches. Effective January 1, 2022, all new Cornell hires, regardless of role and work location, must be fully vaccinated and present proof of an FDA- or WHO- authorized or approved COVID-19 vaccination or have a university-approved disability/medical or religious exemption. Failure to demonstrate compliance with this requirement prior to the first day of work will result in the delay of employment with Cornell and may result in the offer of employment being rescinded.
