Position: Endowed Postdoctoral Research Fellowship


General Description: The Stanford Autism Center is pleased to announce a mentored postdoctoral fellowship in translational autism research.  This position is being offered to well-qualified graduate degree candidates and postdoctoral scientists interested in advancing human subjects research in the field of autism and related neurodevelopmental disorders. The focus of this position is broad and can include individuals from basic biological to physician scientists. The ultimate goal of this postdoctoral training program is to support the development of the next generation of biomedical investigators whose research will help improve the lives of individuals with autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders. 


We are seeking applicants who have prior experience or intense interest in one or more of the following areas:

 


·      Therapies design & development

·      Clinical trials (e.g., psychopharmacological, behavioral, & technological interventions)

·      Interventional psychiatry (e.g., transcranial magnetic stimulation)

·      Epidemiology

·      Neurobiology & neuroimaging

·      Molecular genetics

·      Neuropeptides & neurosteroids biology

·      Sleep disturbances & circadian rhythms

·      Big data & subgrouping

·      Psychometrics & scale development


Training and Mentorship: The fellow will be mentored by one or more Stanford faculty members with expertise in autism spectrum disorder. Areas of focus are broad and flexible depending on the candidate’s interests. Didactic and hands-on training in many theoretical and applied areas of research will also be available to support attainment of the training goals and Stanford University offers a rich postdoctoral training environment with unparalleled access to courses, workshops, and bootcamps in a wide range of topic areas. Employment Details: This is an initial two-year endowed position, renewable one-year contracts, with the start date to be determined between the primary mentor and applicant. The competitive stipend has been adjusted for the cost of living in the Bay Area, and additional funds will be available to support training activities and pilot research. The position also includes health benefits, paid vacation, sick leave, and flex time to attend national conferences or participate in other training programs. Requirements: Previous clinical or research experience with autism spectrum disorder is desirable. Applicants must have graduate training in psychology, neuroscience, medicine, or another advanced degree in a related discipline (Ph.D., Psy.D., M.D., or equivalent); previous clinical research experience; and have completed all degree requirements prior to the start date.
