Post-Doctoral Research Associate Position on DUNE Department of Physics – College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Northern Illinois University DeKalb, Illinois, 60115, USA

The experimental high energy physics group at Northern Illinois University invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate position working on the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE). The group, currently consisting of three faculty, two research scientists and three graduate students, is actively involved in the design and construction of the far detector photon detection system. The group’s physics interests have so far focused on the study of tau neutrinos with the DUNE detector. The applicant is expected to take a leadership role in simulation/algorithm development/physics analysis of the Far Detector and its prototypes. NIU’s campus in DeKalb, IL is approximately 30 miles from Fermilab and time at both locations is expected. The research group is actively involved with the Northern Illinois Center for Accelerator and Detector Development (NICADD), which has a long history of detector research and development for ATLAS, CMS, Mu2e, Muon g-2, DUNE, proton tomography, and PIP-II.

Qualifications: Prospective candidates must have a Ph.D. in Physics or closely related field, completed before the start of the position. Applicants should have a strong record of accomplishments in data analysis, and interest or experience in detector development, construction, or operation. Desired qualifications include research experience in neutrino physics and the willingness to work with students.
