The group of Asst. Prof. Wen Wei Ho at the Department of Physics, National University of Singapore (NUS) is seeking highly motivated candidates for multiple Postdoctoral Research Fellow positions, to begin Fall 2023 or earlier.

The successful candidate will conduct theoretical research at the interface of quantum information science and condensed matter physics, with a focus on nonequilibrium quantum many-body phenomena realizable by experimental AMO systems (cold atoms, Rydberg atoms, trapped ions, etc.). Topics of current interest include, but are not limited to, deep thermalization, monitored quantum dynamics, dynamical/driven phases of matter, ergodicity-breaking mechanisms. Other research directions are to develop blueprints for quantum simulation of complex many-body phenomena, and to design quantum state preparation and tomography protocols specifically tailored for current and near-term quantum technologies.

There will be opportunities to collaborate with world renowned experimental groups of cold atoms, superconducting circuits and Rydberg atoms, including those at the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) in Singapore, located next door (see https://www.quantumlah.org/people/allgroups.php

More information on research can be found at https://sites.google.com/view/wenweiho/

About the positions:
Candidates should be familiar with methods in quantum many-body theory, preferably quantum-information theoretic ones like the use of entanglement and tensor-networks etc. Previous experience with experiments involving quantum simulators is a plus, and expertise in computational methods is also highly desirable.

Candidates should have (or be about to acquire) a PhD in physics or related field.

The start-date is flexible (can be immediate or a mutually-agreed date within the next year, 2023), for a fixed-term period of 2 years with possibility of extension to a third year contingent on performance and funding.

The position comes with a very competitive salary (SGD75k - 90k), benefits, and ample travel funds for conferences and collaborations.

Application procedure:
Interested applicants are to submit an application at https://careers.nus.edu.sg/job-invite/17636/ and to provide the following: a cover letter with brief description of research interests, CV with list of publications, as well as contact information (email) of four references.

Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue till positions are filled.

Questions are to be sent directly to Prof. Ho (wenweiho@nus.edu.sg), and are more than welcome.

About the location:
NUS is the Republic of Singapore’s flagship university and a leading global university, being ranked 2nd in Asia according to the QS Asia University Rankings 2023 and 11th worldwide according to the QS World University Rankings 2023. Sunny, tropical Singapore is a vibrant, multicultural metropolis, located one degree north of the equator in Southeast Asia, and has been dubbed the “gateway to the east”. It has four official languages (English, Mandarin Chinese, Malay and Tamil), with English being the main language.
