This is a three year position. The first year is based at Soochow while the second and third years are based at Wits.
Applicants should have obtained a Ph.D. within the last five years and have shown evidence of accomplishment and independence in their research.
Members of the MITP include Pallab Basu, Kevin Goldstein, Vishnu Jejjala, Anosh Joseph, João Rodrigues, Izak Snyman, and Sam van Leuven. The MITP currently has five post-docs in formal theory.
Members of the MITP work on various topics in string theory, quantum field theory, theoretical cosmology, condensed matter, mathematical physics, and applications of machine learning. Theorists who overlap with any of these areas are encouraged to apply. The appointment is subject to approval by the appropriate funding agencies. We can apply for additional funding to extend the term of the fellowship, but this is not guaranteed. A post-doc can expect a reasonable stipend for research related travel.
