The Art and Art History department at Colgate University invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor position in Global Contemporary Art beginning fall semester 2022. Completion of the Ph.D. is required prior to, or shortly after, the date of hire. In addition to courses in their regional, cultural, or otherwise defined area of expertise, the historian of Global Contemporary Art is expected to teach undergraduate courses in transnational, global, or cross-cultural approaches to contemporary art in a combined art history and studio department. In the annual five-course load, regular teaching contributions will include Art and Theory 1960-1990 (ARTS 240), Art and Theory 1980-Present (ARTS 243), other courses in the art history curriculum from the introductory to seminar level, and a course of their own design. Responsibilities may also include senior thesis advising. An interest in contributing to our program in Museum Studies is also welcome.
