POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN THEORETICAL COSMOLOGY
INSTITUTE FOR THEORETICAL PHYSICS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF HEIDELBERG
The particle physics and cosmology division of the Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University of Heidelberg invites applications for a postdoctoral position in theoretical cosmology. The position is expected to be filled in the fall of 2022 but it can start anytime.
The appointment is for a period of two years.
The postdoc is expected to work in the group of Prof. Luca Amendola on topics related to cosmology, with emphasis on fundamental science with the Euclid satellite. Previous experience within Euclid is appreciated but not mandatory.
Other members of the particle physics and cosmology division consists of the faculty members M. Bartelmann,
J. Berges, A. Hebecker, J. Jaeckel, J. Pawlowski, T. Plehn, C. Wetterich and J. Walcher as a partner at the Mathematical Institute. Junior research group leaders at our Institute include S. Floerchinger
and S. Westhoff.
In addition, several associated professors, about 20 junior scientists and postdocs, and 35 postgraduate students work in the division.
The division runs a lively international visitor program. The research covers a wide range of topics in particle theory, including in particular particle-cosmology, cosmic structure formation, particle phenomenology, quantum chromodynamics, heavy ion collisions, physics beyond the standard model, quantum gravity, string theory, non-perturbative and non-equilibrium quantum field theory, with applications to ultracold quantum gases.
