As part of our strategic cluster hiring initiative https://cul.colgate.edu/cluster-hire-initiative, Colgate University Libraries seek a dynamic and goal-oriented Outreach and Engagement Librarian. This is an open-rank library faculty position. This library faculty member will join the Libraries’ Outreach and Engagement team, which engages in inclusive, collaborative, critical, and creative pedagogies to foster information literacy and inspire intellectual curiosity. An MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent is required at the time of hire or by the end of the first year of hire. The successful candidate will be a primary point of contact between the Libraries’ services and the various academic departments and programs in the humanities, natural sciences, social sciences as well as the various interdisciplinary programs at the University. In this role, library instruction and pedagogical collaborations with faculty members and research consultations with students will be the primary responsibilities. Additionally, this position will play a key role in developing library collections in consultation with faculty members, advocating for library services within each academic division, and communicating important library initiatives and updates to academic division directors, department chairs, and program directors. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in the context of pedagogy, curriculum development, and collections expansion. It is also expected that, as library faculty, the successful candidate will engage in University service and sustain a record of professional service and scholarship in the field of Library and Information Science. The Outreach and Engagement Librarian will join a cohort with two additional positions in this cluster hire: a Head of Special Collections and University Archivist; and a Metadata and Cataloging Librarian. A more detailed list of required and preferred qualifications for the Outreach and Engagement Librarian can be found here: https://cul.colgate.edu/outreach-engagement-librarian. We are most interested in finding the best candidate for this position, and that candidate may be one who comes from a less traditional background. We encourage you to apply, even if you don’t have all the preferred qualifications.
