Applications are invited for a tenure-track position to begin Fall 2020. Candidates must have or be completing a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field. They must have a strong commitment to both teaching and research in an undergraduate liberal arts environment. We are especially interested in candidates who are enthusiastic to teach a broad range of undergraduate courses. This person will be expected to contribute to the teaching of our introductory and core courses as well as advanced courses. Strong candidates will have a track record in the mentoring of undergraduate research.

Macalester offers majors in Computer Science, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics and Statistics, minors in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics and, most recently, a minor in Data Science. We encourage innovative pedagogy and curriculum, and emphasize computer science’s interdisciplinary connections within and beyond the sciences. We are particularly seeking strong candidates whose work spans disciplinary boundaries beyond CS, math, or the natural sciences. Although we are open to any area of expertise, areas of highest priority include mobile and ubiquitous computing, computer networks, programming languages, data science, and operating systems. We work with diverse student populations and teach courses that include elements of civic engagement. Strong candidates will have a record of experience or demonstrated interest in these efforts.
