The Department of Molecular, Cell and Cancer Biology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School (http://umassmed.edu/mccb/) is seeking an outstanding individual for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty member at the Assistant Professor level. The candidate must have a Ph.D. or M.D. degree, more than 5 years of postdoctoral research experience, and a strong publication record. The candidate will investigate the mechanisms underlying the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Green, M.D., Ph.D. A successful candidate is expected to have extensive knowledge of both basic and breast cancer biology, EMT mechanisms and signaling pathways, transcriptional regulation, and epigenetic mechanisms. An ideal candidate will have experience in performing a variety of molecular biology, biochemical and genetic assays including: shRNA screening; RNAi-mediated gene knockdown; CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene genome editing; quantitative real-time PCR; in vitro cell migration and invasion assays; transcriptome profiling (RNA-seq); chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) and ChIP-seq; and fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) analysis. Candidates should have extensive experience with mammalian cell culture and tumor initiation/metastasis assays in mice.

An ideal candidate will also possess the following qualifications: 1. Successful completion of postdoctoral work that has resulted in publications in peer-reviewed journals. 2. Demonstrated ability to teach in the laboratory setting (graduate students, postdoctoral trainees, and/or staff) and/or through the successful presentation of seminars. 3. Commitment to learn to write and submit competitive grant applications as PI or co-investigator under the oversight of a research mentor. 4. Desire and aptitude to move toward greater scientific independence through the initial development of collaborative research projects. 5. Strong oral and written communications skills; strong interpersonal skills.
