The Animal Health Diagnostic Center (AHDC) at Cornell University seeks applicants for an Extension Associate position in its Receiving and Endocrinology Laboratories. This position will work with Endocrinology faculty and Veterinary Support Services to provide timely diagnostic interpretation and advice to AHDC clients and to provide instruction to Receiving staff on the appropriate testing for accessions falling under professional review. Position responsibilities also include consulting with AHDC clients regarding all diagnostic procedures, with expected expertise for tests in the Endocrinology Laboratory. Tasks include evaluation of endocrinology immunoassay results, approval when appropriate, recommendation for repeat assays and tests, and finalization of test results before reporting. The successful candidate will divide work between Receiving and the Endocrinology Laboratory as workflows and work load dictate, and will work collaboratively with technicians and students in both laboratory units, providing guidance and expertise on diagnostics and interpretation.

Requirements: • Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent degree • at least one year of postdoctoral experience in the relevant fields of veterinary diagnostic endocrinology and diagnostic laboratory operations. • excellent communication skills • strong interpersonal and customer-service skills. • The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently, exercise initiative and sound judgement, and is expected to complete client related tasks in a timely and accurate manner.

This is a three-year term position with the possibility of renewal.
