We are pleased to offer a 1-year postdoctoral position
opportunity in the laboratory of Dr. Taika von Königslöw with possible
extension depending on funding and performance. The goal of our research is to
establish a dynamic profile of health risk over time in dairy calves using
precision livestock technologies and biomarkers. In this applied program, we
aim to optimize calf health by integrating novel livestock technologies in
disease detection and intervention strategies. This will involve development,
testing, and validation of precision technologies and intervention strategies in
dairy calves under a variety of management conditions. The candidate will
design, coordinate, and perform field studies and prepare manuscripts for high
impact scientific journals and will have opportunities to present and publish
scholarly work at local, national, and international venues. This position is supported
by the Cornell Institute for Digital Agriculture (CIDA) and is available
immediately.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in the data
sciences with software programming skills in STATA, SAS, R Statistical
Software, or others and a strong publication record. Experience with artificial
intelligence in epidemiology or agriculture is desired but not required. A
post-graduate degree (PhD, DVSc, DVM, or equivalent) in veterinary, animal, or
the biological science is desired but not required. The position will require
work with dairy calves on commercial dairy farms in the upstate New York
region. Ideally, the candidate feels comfortable working with livestock in a
dairy farm setting. The ideal candidate will enjoy working and communicating
with a multi-disciplinary team of academics, clinical experts, and students at
Cornell University.
