Instructor The Horae Gene Therapy Center of the University of Massachusetts Medical School invites applications for a non-tenure track Research Faculty Instructor position. The research project entails developing state-of-art molecular technologies, advanced bioinformatics pipelines and structural biology tools 1) using rAAV-based genome editing to create animal models; 2) to develop therapeutic strategies of somatic genome and RNA editing; 3) to investigate potential adverse consequences of in vivo genome editing and develop solutions; 4) to develop novel genome editing technologies; 5) To conduct structural biology-guided AAV capsid engineering. Applicants should have a PhD in the biomedical sciences or an MD with post graduate scientific research training and at least 6 years of research experience in the areas of molecular and cellular biology, virology, genomics, viral gene therapy and bioinformatics. Applicants with strong skills and track records in in vivo genome editing, DNA and cDNA library construction for next generation sequencing, RNA Seq and small RNA Seq, extensive bioinformatics analyses of genomics and transcriptomics, viral gene therapy vector development, and in vivo gene transfer studies are preferred. Ability to work independently, coordinate and manage different research projects concurrently, as well as strong scientific writing, verbal, interpersonal and mentoring skills are essential. Candidates should be well organized, hard-working and highly motivated to respond to the changes within the rapidly evolving field of gene therapy research.
