We seek a specialist in modern European history with a focus on Jewish history, who will also be able to teach the following courses: “Postwar Europe,” “Europe in the Era of World War” and “European Revolutions, 1789-1917.” ABD candidates will be considered; however, they must have their degree in hand prior to August 2023. To apply, electronically submit a curriculum vitae, three references, and a cover letter, including a discussion of any previous work focused on justice, equity, diversity and inclusion. Candidates should upload their materials electronically to Academic Jobs Online. Review of applications will begin January 16, 2023, and continue until the position is filled. Questions should be directed to the chair of the search committee, Dr. Walter D. Greason, DeWitt Wallace Professor and Chair of the Department of History (wgreason@macalester.edu).

At Macalester College, diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to our educational mission and values. We are committed to the institutional change required for visioning and realizing a more equitable and socially just college and society. Strong candidates will have a record of experience or demonstrated commitment to teaching students of multiple and diverse backgrounds with attention to structural barriers that limit access to educational opportunities. In addition to the materials noted above, applicants should submit a diversity statement (no longer than 2 pages) that discusses past experiences and demonstrated activities contributing to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives in their teaching, advising, and mentorship.
