The Fermilab Theory Division/Particle Theory Department invites applications for postdoctoral research appointments starting in the fall of 2023. 

Postdoctoral research associates in the Fermilab Theory Division are appointed for three years. They are expected to perform self-directed theoretical physics research on topics of their own choosing, and are encouraged to work with members of the senior scientific staff and other postdocs within the Division. The Fermilab Particle Theory research program includes neutrino physics, perturbative QCD, lattice QCD, Higgs & flavor physics, collider phenomenology and physics beyond the standard model. Collaboration with members of the other two departments in the Theory Division (Astrophysics Theory and Quantum Theory) is encouraged and supported. The senior staff of the Particle Theory Department consists of John Campbell, Marcela Carena, Bogdan Dobrescu, Patrick Fox, Walter Giele, Roni Harnik, Stefan Hoeche, Andreas Kronfeld, Pedro Machado, Stephen Parke, Noemi Rocco, Ruth Van de Water and Michael Wagman. The emeriti are William Bardeen, Estia Eichten, Christopher Hill, Boris Kayser, Paul Mackenzie and Chris Quigg. Our colleagues in the Astro Theory Department are Joshua Frieman, Nick Gnedin, Craig Hogan, Dan Hooper, Gordan Krnjaic and Albert Stebbins, and in the Quantum Theory Department Asher Berlin and Henry Lamm.

Qualifications 
  • Candidates should have obtained a Ph.D. in theoretical particle physics or astrophysics, or a closely related field, or expect to earn a Ph.D. in the same fields, by September 1, 2023. 
  • Demonstrated experience in theoretical physics research. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Willingness to respect, understand and value individual differences that embody laboratory principles of diversity and inclusion. 
  • Ability to abide by all environment, safety and health regulations.
