Occupational Summary

An individual with academic credentials but without a doctorate and not a degree candidate. Assists faculty members in research programs by participating in the research directly or in organizing a program under which the research is carried out. This classification is administered on Campus through the Office of the Provost and in the Medical Center through the Office of the Chancellor for Health Affairs. It is not subject to the Wage and Salary system.

Work Performed

The selected candidate will focus on the development of soft robotics, utilizing responsive materials to achieve specific deformation or locomotion goals. They will be responsible for designing and fabricating actuation and sensing elements, implementing inverse design methodologies, creating and refining control algorithms, and conducting mechanical tests to optimize the performance of the soft robotic materials.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Requires a bachelor’s degree in science or engineering.

Experience Research experience in soft materials or soft robotics preferred but not required.

Skills Python, MATLAB, C#, C++, Arduino, SolidWorks, Abaqus, Machining, Clean-room skills.
