About us:

Duke University is a world-renowned research institution with 2 recent Nobel prize laureates. Currently, we are looking for an Associate in Research with expertise in chemistry to participate in a research programs in the areas of nanostructure synthesis, water electrolysis, and machine learning.

Qualifications:

The candidate for this position will be a highly motivated individual with experience working in a chemistry laboratory and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry or chemical engineering.

Required qualifications include (1) US citizenship, (2) good verbal and written communication skills, (3) some previous work experience (it doesn’t have to be in chemistry-related field, but that is a plus), (4) ability to work full-time.

Job description:

The Associate in Research will apply his/her/their technical skills toward development and implementation of nanostructure synthesis in order to meet the research sponsor’s product requirements. Ideally, the Associate in Research will apply design of experiments and/or machine learning methods to arrive at optimal reaction conditions. The Associate in Research may also develop novel electrodes for electrolytic conversion of water to hydrogen, and the ideal reactor configuration to maximize hydrogen production. He/she/they will work in association with the Professor Benjamin Wiley in the department of Chemistry in a thriving research environment where he/she will be able to interact with other researchers. This appointment will allow for improving the candidate’s research skills as well as becoming familiar with nanostructure synthesis, machine learning, and water electrolysis.
