The Department of Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (https://biology.mit.edu/) is conducting a search for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level, effective July 1, 2018, or as soon thereafter as possible.

We seek candidates in the area of structural biology, particularly those that make use of the state-of-the-art cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) and/or cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET).   MIT is opening a new cryo-EM/ET facility equipped with a 300kV Titan Krios and a 200kV Talos Arctica microscope in 2018.  The successful candidate will have laboratory space in the Main Building of the MIT Department of Biology.

Applicants are expected to share our commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching and training and to develop and lead an independent research program addressing important problems in biomolecular systems.

Candidates must hold a PhD in the biological, chemical, physical, mathematical, or computational sciences, or in an engineering field; or equivalent terminal degree.

Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a ~3 page summary of current and proposed research, a statement of teaching interests, and arrange to have three letters of recommendation submitted on their behalf. Completed applications will be reviewed starting October 16, 2017.
