FACULTY POSITIONS
Institute of Physics, Academia Sinica
Taipei, Taiwan
The
Institute of Physics (IOP), Academia Sinica, Taiwan’s premier research
institution, invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions at all
levels with an expected starting date on Sep. 1, 2026. Female scientists are
particularly encouraged to apply. Proficiency in Chinese is not required.
Currently, IOP maintains active research programs in the following areas: Condensed
Matter Physics, Medium to High-Energy Physics, and Physics of Active and Living
Matter. We particularly welcome applicants whose research specializes
in Quantum Materials and Quantum
Devices, Advanced Optical Spectroscopy, Astroparticle Physics, Collider
Physics, Cosmology, Gravitational Physics, Nuclear Physics, Molecular and
Cellular Biophysics, Mechanobiology, Active Soft Matters. Outstanding
candidates in other research areas will also be considered.
IoP
is committed to the pursuit of excellence in research. Faculty members enjoy
the freedom to pursue independent research in a collegial environment. IOP is
well-equipped with facilities for computation, quantum material preparation and
characterization, and advanced optical microscopy. More details can be found

Faculty members are eligible to apply for intramural funding (Academia Sinica)
and extramural fundings (e.g., National Science and Technology Council). They
can supervise PhD students through Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP,
https://tigp.sinica.edu.tw) or through
partnership universities. Teaching is not required but encouraged to support
high-quality education. Academia Sinica offers a supportive work environment.
New faculty members are eligible for the faculty housing. There are also
on-campus childcare and kindergarten facilities, and bilingual
(English/Chinese) program in Nangang Elementary School.
Successful
candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in physics or closely related areas, and
preferably postdoctoral experience. The candidates are expected to lead an
independent and international competitive research program, which contributes
to the institute’s global reputation for excellence.
