The Faculty of Computing & Data Sciences (CDS) at Boston University invites applications for a non-tenure track full-time lecturer position beginning as soon as January 2026. Qualifications required of all applicants include experience commensurate with a PhD degree or equivalent in any of the disciplines that span computing and data sciences and a strong commitment to teaching and to curricular development that is informed by real-world experience in an academic or industrial setting.This 12-month position will primarily teach in CDS Online programs and carries a teaching load of nine online modules per year. Successful candidates may also contribute to CDS residential programs depending on qualifications and experience. This teaching load may be reduced in the first year to allow for curriculum development. Remote or hybrid work is possible for candidates appointed as lecturers to teach online courses exclusively.
Applications are welcome from recent PhD graduates, postdocs, or practitioners who are interested in an academic career focusing on innovation in online teaching and learning and on professional development of post-graduate students. Particular attention will be given to candidates with experience in topics that are relevant to data science, most notably mathematical and algorithmic foundation, software and data engineering, data mining, machine learning, and Artificial Intelligence.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training and internal pay comparison. The expected salary range for the position is $90,00 to $120,000. This range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
