Position Description
The Education Program in the School of Arts and Sciences at Brandeis University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Education Policy at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position would begin in the 2024-2025 academic year and is subject to budget approval. We seek candidates who come to the study of education informed by disciplinary expertise in one or more of the following areas: anthropology, political science, history, public policy, law, economics, quantitative sociology of education, or a related field. The Education Program aims to build on existing strengths in the area of race and education, and we particularly welcome applications from scholars whose research and teaching focus in this area. The Program seeks candidates whose research and teaching focus on issues such as educational equity; achievement, opportunity, teacher quality, and school discipline gaps; school finance reform; school desegregation; privatization; grassroots queer, feminist and/or anti-racist educational activism; special education policy; schooling, colonialism and settler states; or anti-racism in education policy and practice. Duties include teaching four courses per academic year, ranging from core courses to specialized seminars in areas of a candidate’s expertise; undergraduate thesis advising; and university and departmental service. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in hand by July 1, 2024.
