Position Description
Postdoctoral Position in Lattice Gauge Theory at CCNU The Institute of Particle Physics (IOPP) at Central China Normal University (CCNU) invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in lattice gauge theory, with an emphasis on computational and algorithmic advancements. This role will involve the development of novel lattice QCD algorithms and high-performance computing (HPC) codes, and/or exploring applications of artificial intelligence (AI) to lattice simulations.
The starting date is immediate, with the appointment initially set for two years, with a possible extension for a third year contingent on performance and funding. Review of applications will begin on April 16, 2025, and will continue until the positions are filled.
Our university provides a competitive salary and subsidizes a fully furnished apartment for each postdoc. Competitive support and funding for research and travel will be provided as well.
Position Overview:
- Conduct research to advance lattice QCD methods, with an emphasis on algorithm optimization and HPC code development.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate AI and machine learning techniques into lattice field theory frameworks.
- Engage in large-scale numerical simulations, performance analysis, and optimization using state-of-the-art supercomputing resources.
Requirements:
- A Ph.D. in theoretical particle/nuclear physics, computational physics, or a closely related field, completed by the start date.
- A solid foundation in lattice field theory and numerical methods, with experience in HPC programming (e.g., C++, Python, MPI, OpenMP, CUDA) and parallel computing environments.
- Experience in performance analysis, debugging, and deployment of production-level code on supercomputing systems.
- Knowledge of machine learning or AI applications in physics is desirable but not mandatory; however, the ability to integrate these techniques into lattice QCD simulations is a significant advantage.
Application Materials:
- Curriculum Vitae (including publication list).
- Statement of research interests, highlighting relevant experience and future goals.
- Three letters of recommendation submitted directly by referees.
